This book is about Ramsgate during the second world war. It covers civil defence, H.M.S. fervent (contraband control based around Ramsgate harbour), evacuation of the children to safer places, the Dunkirk evacuation, preparation for nazi invasion, Ramsgate tunnels, Ramsgate fire brigade and auxiliary fire service, also Italian air force raid on Ramsgate and Manston’s jet fighters.
Ramsgate was heavily bombed during WW2 making civil defence here particularly important. This book provides some useful information about aspects of Ramsgate during the war.
