Kent Terrace Ramsgate | Back to The cliff collapse at Pegwell 11th March 1947
Kent Terrace Ramsgate
This is the cliff behind Kent Terrace Ramsgate photographed 11th May 2007
As you can see the houses are right against the cliff
The most badly damaged area is where ivy is growing up the side of the cliff so one can't see much of the condition of the brickwork going down the cliff.
You can see how the wall is leaning at a different angle beyond the crack
You can see how the ivy has forced the mortar out and has worked into the brickwork.
This is looking down into the top of the damaged cliff wall
Leaning over the lift access one can at the bottom of the cliff arches just like the ones at the Pegwell collapse. It would seem obvious that before pile driving commences the ivy should be removed the cliff properly surveyed and repairs made to the wall
